On April  24 the Bedford Planning Board continued its site plan review regarding an application for driveway improvements for St. Michael’s Parish located at 90 Concord Road. The improvements, estimated to cost $200,000, will include the addition of nine new parking spaces (five of which will be designated as handicapped spaces), new parking lights, and extended sidewalks, as well as the extension of the driveway from 18 feet to 22 feet.

After revisions were made to the improvement plan in accordance with the requests of the DPW and Planning Board, the board ultimately approved the plan. The most significant of these revisions is the addition of four landscaped parking lot islands and a healing garden to provide additional green space and the inclusion of a gate system for increased safety.

The board then continued its public hearing regarding the proposed café at 36 North Road. The board reviewed a special permit for the redevelopment of the property for a bakery and café with a residential apartment. After reviewing the redevelopment plans and the list of contingencies agreed upon during its April 10th meeting, the board endorsed the special permit.

The next Planning Board meeting will be held at Bedford Town Hall on Tuesday, May 8 at 7:30 pm and is open to the public. For more information, please visit the board’s website at https://www.bedfordma.gov/planning.
