Chief Robert Bongiorno reports that the Bedford Police Department is searching for a man who allegedly broke into an auto repair shop and stole a van last night.

At approximately 11:46 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4, Bedford Police were dispatched to Riggio’s Auto Repair, 180 The Great Road, for a report that a van had been driven out of the building, crashing through a garage bay door.

Upon arrival, officers observed damage to the building with the inspection sticker bay door on the ground in the parking lot, and that the glass of another bay door and window to the retail part of the store was broken.

An initial investigation indicated that the man made entry into the building through the hole in the glass of the second bay door, and that the van was driven out of the inspection sticker bay door.

Officers attempted to search the area for the missing vehicle but were unable to locate it.

The suspect is described as a white male with a thin build, short hair, a tattoo on his right forearm, and wearing jeans and a t-shirt.

The stolen vehicle is a black 2004 GMC Safari van with Massachusetts registration RAR10. “Riggio Auto Repair” is written on the side, and  a distinctive flame motif painted on the front bumper. It was last seen leaving the Riggio’s Auto Repair parking lot and traveling west on The Great Road.

This case remains under active investigation by the Bedford Police Department. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Bedford Police at 781-275-1212.
