The Wedgewood Swim Club hosted the Heritage Pool and Racquet Club on Saturday, July 14th for its second dive and swim meet of this season. While it was an overall loss for the team, there were many personal bests during this very exciting meet.
Wedgewood’s dive team gave a very strong performance, with Sophia Demeo and Rylee Gilmartin in 2nd and 3rd place (respectively for ages 10 and under), Taelor Nichols and Willow McGinness in 1st and 3rd place (respectively for ages 12 and under, Isabella Seldon and Isabelle Wilson in 1st and 4th place (respectively for ages 14 and under), and Maya Driscoll in 2nd place ages 17 and under.
The swim part of the meet had a great start with the 6 and under age group. Mary Siciliano, Mika Cieplinski, and Ainsley Reid placed in 1st, 3rd, and 4th place (respectively) for the girls 12-yard backstroke and freestyle and Luke Brady in 5th place for the boys 12-yard backstroke.

Top finishers for the 8 and under group went to Jocelyn Bullard, Grace Venuti, and Zachary Hallet (butterfly), Abigail Titlow, Lucy Scoville, Willow McGinness, Stephen Wheaton and Zachary Hallet (breaststroke), Lucy Scoville, Jocelyn Bullard, and Abigail Titlow (freestyle), and Brielle Carman, Sanders Bertos, and Adam Silver (backstroke).
For the 10 and under category, top finishers were Delaney Bertos, Liliana Carman, Charles Demeo and Gabe Favalora (100-yard IM), McKenna Wilson, Teresa Silver, and William Siciliano (butterfly), Sophia Demeo, Taelor Nichols, and Logan McGinness (breaststroke), McKenna Wilson, Delaney Bertos, Aliyah Lussier, William Lussier, and Owen Brough (freestyle), Liliana Carman, Teresa Silver, Charles Demeo, Gabe Favalora, and Owen Brough (backstroke).
Top finishers for the 12 and under group went to Ann Girafalco, Grace Weisz, Matthew Tonini, and Sebastian Woolnough (100-yard IM), Katie Dillon and Kenny Doucet (butterfly), Sebastian Woolnough, Andrew Scoville, and Devin Leida (breaststroke), Ann Girifalco, Kenny Doucet, Andrew Scoville, and Alex Brough (freestyle), and Grace Weisz, Matthew Tonini, Ethan Washington, and Charlie O’Brien (backstroke).
In the 14 and under category, top finishers were Sally MacPhee, Charlotte Weber, Kitty Warhover, and George Rackey (100-yard IM), Sofie Huntington, Isabella Seldon, and Samantha Brough (butterfly), Ava Venuti, Sofie Huntington, and Sarah Tonini (breaststroke), Kitty Warhover, Sally MacPhee, George Rackey, and Sam Huntington (freestyle), and Charlotte Weber, Sarah Tonini, and Sam Huntington (backstroke).
The 17 and under group has a good showing as well, with placements for Lily Nemirovsky, Julia Palazzo and Chris Wirth (100-yard IM), Julia Palazzo, Sophia Seldon, and Sean Doucet (butterfly), Sophia Seldon and Chris Wirth (breaststroke), Lily Nemirovsky, Kara Shelmire, and Sean Doucet (freestyle), and Kara Shelmire and Ashley Tonini (backstroke).
Wedgewood also placed 2nd and 3rd in the girls 100-yard medley relay and 3rd in the boys 100-yard medley relay, as well as placing 1st in the girls 200-yard freestyle relay and 2nd in the boys 200-yard freestyle relay.
Wedgewood faces off at home on Saturday, July 21 against the Westford Swim & Tennis Club.
