Town Government at Work for the Week of July 16, 2018

By Meredith McCulloch

The Selectmen, the Planning Board, and the School Committee have posted interesting agendas for their meetings in the coming week.

A group of citizens working with DPW staff have studied safety concerns at the intersection of Pine Hill Road and the Narrow Gauge Rail Trail. They will present their findings to the Selectmen on July 16. The Minuteman Bikeway is part of the Bay State Circuit, a recreational route that passes through nearly 40 towns.

Also, the Selectmen will discuss the option of purchasing a piece of Navy property to the south of Hartwell Road that includes an abandoned hangar.  Potential purchase of the property and rezoning of the area will be on the warrant of a Special Town Meeting July 30, 2018. Following their regular meeting,  executive sessions starting at 8:35 will deal with real property and contract negotiations.

The Planning Board will gather on Tuesday, July 16 between 2 pm and 4 pm to participate in a webinar on accessory dwelling units.

That evening the School Committee will meet to establish goals. Their meeting will be followed at 9:05 by an executive session regarding non-union salaries.

The Town Calendar shows the following meetings, but no agendas are available at this time.

  • The Board of Health on July 16 at 7:00 pm at Town Center, Flint Room.
  • The Board of Assessors, on July 18 in Town Hall
  • Finance Committee on July 19 in Town Hall
