As The Bedford Citizen welcomes new board member Lalitha Gunturi Ranganath, it bids farewell to Jan Shephard.

Welcome, Lalitha Gunturi Ranganath

Lalitha Gunturi Ranganath

The Bedford Citizen is pleased to announce that Lalitha Gunturi Ranganath joined our Board of Directors on June 7.  A Bedford resident since 2013, Ms. Ranganath manages the global legal department of industry-leading network security company, Arbor Networks. She earned her B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2002. She graduated from Boston University School of Law in 2005.

Ms. Ranganath and her family moved to Bedford because of Bedford’s schools, close-knit community, and nearness to Boston.

She has been an active member of the South Asian Bar Association of Boston and is a trustee and past president of the South Asian Bar Association of North America. She also served on the Diversity and Inclusion Committee of the Association of Corporate Counsel Northeast Chapter. Here in Bedford, she serves on the Grants Committee of the Bedford Education Foundation.

Ms. Ranganath sees her time as a Director as an opportunity to strengthen her ties to the Bedford community. The Citizen looks forward to working with Ms. Ranganath in the coming years.

Farewell Jan Shephard, and Thank You for Your Service

Jan Shephard

The Bedford Citizen thanks Jan Shepard for her years as a director on The Citizen’s Board of Directors. She plans to continue to volunteer with The Citizen writing thank you notes to our donors. Prior to joining The Citizen, Ms. Shepard served on The Conservation Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals. Most recently, she was on the 2015 Charter Review Committee.

When asked about why she chose to serve on The Citizen’s board, she said, “I love the Bedford community, and so respect the many people who step up to give so much of their already busy time to take active roles to make the town run smoothly.  For those of us who care but don’t have the time or talents to make a direct contribution, The Bedford Citizen plays a significant role in keeping us informed, connected, and aware of opportunities to contribute in whatever way we can.”

The Citizen is grateful to Ms. Shepard for her past service and her willingness to continue on as a volunteer.
