The Massachusetts primary kicks off the week of September 4 with registered voters making their way to the John Glenn Middle School between 7 am and 8 pm to cast their ballots at the same time students return for the first day of school.
Early that evening the Selectmen and Historic District Commission members will meet in Executive Sessions at 6:45 pm to decide on a response, if any, to a court ruling supporting the right of the of First Parish Church to install solar panels on the roof. At 9 pm the Selectmen will open another Executive Session to consider a strategy for a potential real property acquisition.
Later, at 7:30 pm, the Selectmen will meet in regular session to consider several agenda items:
- A conservation restriction at 350A & 340 Concord Road requested by the Sudbury Valley Trustees
- A draft Traffic Calming Policy for neighborhoods recommended by the Transportation Advisory Committee
- Fees for a second trash or overflow bag
Also on Monday evening, the Bedford Historic Preservation Commission will meet at 7:30 pm to consider a Demolition Delay at 52 South Road, an update on a Fitch Tavern Preservation Agreement and to consider the Preservation Restriction status of the Michael Bacon House.
In the third meeting on September 4, the School Committee agenda includes hearing a JGMS/BHS Building Committee Presentation and a review of the District Strategic Improvement Plan, beginning at 7:30 pm in the high school’s large group instruction room.
On Wednesday, September 5 the Historic District Commission will hold a Public Hearing at 7:30 pm which includes the Board of Health speaking informally about bus stop shelters. Also on Wednesday the Bicycle Advisory Committee will review plans for the Great Road bicycle lane and hear about the paving and striping on Brooksbie, Page, Pine, Dunster, Dudley, Old Billerica, and a portion of Carlisle roads.
