First Parish Bedford Haunted House features Mary Shelley on the 200th anniversary of her creation, Frankenstein

The First Parish Bedford Haunted House is back for another frightening weekend on October 19 and 20.   The 2018 Haunted House will celebrate the 200th anniversary of Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley’s classic novel, Frankenstein.  The iconic meetinghouse on Bedford Common will be transformed into Mary Shelley’s world.

You will start in the Bedford Alchemist Society and The Bedford School of Alchemy.  Upon escaping from the alchemists you will be escorted to the Menagerie of Monsters.

Assuming you survive the monsters, the guides will lead into the next room where you will get a behind-the-scenes look at how Mrs. Sweeny and Mrs. Todd make their famous pie.

From there, it’s on the Thriller room followed by a visit to the Spectral Lounge.  In the Spectral Lounge, you will meet Jinn of the Magi.  For those who are seeking more frights, the ever popular Dungeon of Doom waits for the non-faint of heart.

Friday and Saturday evenings are designed to be frightening, getting more frightening as the night progresses.  Saturday afternoon is designed for younger kids with their parents.  Walk through the sets, and collect treats as you go trick or treating.

As always with the First Parish Bedford Haunted House, there is a noticeable lack of gore.  Many Halloween events focus on blood and guts, but you will not find that at the First Parish Bedford Haunted House. In fact, not being gory is one of the hallmarks that Haunted House so special.

The First Parish Bedford Haunted House has become a Halloween tradition. Past visitors have commented on how professional everything is and that it’s a fun time for all ages. One visitor noted, “The rooms really are amazing! There really isn’t anything else like this. I can’t wait to come back!”
