In final preparation for the annual Thanksgiving Day football game between Concord-Carlisle and the Bedford Buccaneers, DPW crews have additional work to clear the snow from Sabourin Field.

With the 8-inches of snow last Friday and another dusting earlier this week, they’re working to plow the field with a specially equipped roller system attached to a plow blade to protect the synthetic turf.  Once the snow is pushed off, the crew will spread black sand across the field to speed up the final melting process.

According to DPW Grounds Manager Dennis Freeman, the crew has had to plow the field for a previous Thanksgiving Day game, and occasionally in March so that the spring sports teams can get outside to practice.

Editor’s Note: The Bedford Citizen has learned that while some other schools have rescheduled their Thanksgiving games on account of tomorrow’s freezing forecast, there’s a low probability of rescheduling the BHS-CCHS contest. Tickets at the gate will be $10 per person, with children in Grades 5 and below welcome without charge.
