The staff, board of directors, and members of Bedford TV are pleased to announce that Bedford TV has once again earned regional recognition as the Best Public, Education, and Government Access Channel in its budget category by the Northeast Chapter of the Alliance for Community Media (ACMNE). The category Bedford TV entered was open to stations with budgets up to $200,000 – the smallest budget category the ACMNE has for their awards – and they swept the competition for the second year in a row.

The ACMNE awards underwent a name change this year and are now appropriately called the “Nor’easter” awards. The Nor’easters were judged by a group of panelists from other Community Media Centers in New England and New York. For the Overall Excellence award, they reviewed a 20-minute compilation of Bedford TV programming, as well as a thorough questionnaire on the operations of the station that covered staffing, responsiveness to community needs, and partnerships with local organizations.

Bedford TV won Nor’easter awards for two additional programs produced by former staff member Julie Manoogian:

The awards were presented in Schenectady, NY on October 12 as part of the Annual ACM-NE Conference and Trade Show.  Though the staff was unable to attend this year’s ceremony, they were thrilled to hear the news and eagerly waited for the trophies to arrive. Executive Director Katie Duval thanked all of the people that contributed to the success of Bedford TV.

“It’s clear by looking at the wealth of awards on our walls,” said Duval, “Bedford TV has historically proven itself as one of the leading stations in our budget category. That is all due to the excellent staff, hard-working volunteers, and supportive town that we are so lucky to have. To receive the news of our additional wins is exciting, but not surprising. Bedford TV is a special place unlike any other and we’re so lucky to have the commitment of so many individuals to make that possible. Thank you to everyone who has helped to make our success a possibility. We could not do it without you!”

If you are interested in volunteering at Bedford TV either to produce your own show or to help cover events around town please email [email protected] to learn more about opportunities at the station.
