Late on the morning of December 14, the high bid for the GSA auction of the surplus Navy hangar at the edge of Hanscom Field along Hartwell Road stood at $8,790,000, after a pair of $10,000 bids advanced the close to Monday, December 17.
Much of December has seemed like Bill Murray’s film Groundhog Day, with each day’s high bid topped shortly before the auction was set to close.
In all, there have been hundreds of bids: 8 in September, 108 in October, 136 in November, and 50 so far in December. Most of December’s bids have been $10,000 advances, but higher bids ranging from $20,000 to $250,000 earlier in the month have not sealed the deal. Each been raised at the last minute.
And the beat goes on!
