Parent volunteer and rocketry hobbyist Alex Zhilyakov stepped forward this autumn to teach John Glenn Middle School students how rockets work and to help them in assembling rockets purchased from Estes Rockets by the school’s science department.

After an introductory lesson showing students how rockets and their components work, students learned how to pack the rockets’ parachutes and install their motors.

Members of the Science Club launched the rockets from the field behind JGMS last week.

Interested students are invited to Science Club meetings in Ms. Ferri’s classroom after school on Mondays.
