Richard Donovan, a former long-time resident known to his friends as Dick, passed away on January 5, 2019, in Pocasset, MA.

The Donovan family moved to Bedford in 1956, and Mr. Donovan began a private law practice in Concord. Before arriving in Bedford, he served on the Medford School Committee and as a delegate to the Democratic convention. After serving on the Bedford Finance Committee, he became Bedford’s Town Counsel in 1966, and later Town Administrator. The street “Donovan Drive” was named to honor his 23 years of exemplary service to Bedford. A Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Pocasset, MA on Saturday, January 19 at 10 am, followed by a gathering of friends and family in the Parish Center.
