Town Government at Work for the Week of January 14, 2019

By Meredith McCulloch
Several meetings of interest are taking place in the coming week, including an update on the intersection of Rte 62 and Old Billerica Road – including a 23-page online report, the January Hanscom Field Advisory Commission meeting, Planning Board, School Committee, and FinCom.

At the top of Monday’s Selectmen’s 7 pm agenda [note new start time] is a preliminary report on the Rte 62 and Old Billerica Road intersection. Many residents came to the October 19, 2018 meeting to voice concerns about changes to the intersection. Before attending the meeting, interested residents may wish to read an updated 23-page report about the Old Billerica Road intersection is available on the town’s website (click here to read it) and a more detailed study may be authorized.

The Selectmen will also review the Bedford Cable Television budget proposal and plan to reestablish a charter and bylaw review committee.

Note: Monday’s Selectman’s meeting is preceded by an Executive Session at 6:30 pm.

On at 7 pm Tuesday, January 15, the Hanscom Field Advisory Commission will meet in room 308 at the Civil Air Terminal, 200 Hanscom Drive. The agenda will include Massport’s December 2018 noise report, along with the agency’s report on capital projects and third-party development. Time for resident’s input is included in the agenda.

From 7:30 to 8:45 pm on Tuesday, the Planning Board will hold a workshop on potential accessory Zoning Bylaw Amendment(s) that would regulate accessory dwelling units. They will also review some housekeeping changes to the Great Road Zoning District bylaw.

Also on Tuesday, the School Committee will meet at 7:30 pm in the Large Instruction Room at Bedford High School. Topics on the agenda include the budget and review of the Assistant Superintendent job description.

The Finance Committee will meet on Thursday at 7:15 pm. An earlier Library Trustees’ agenda indicated that the library budget would be reviewed by the Finance Committee on January 17 at 7:30.

Correction on January 13, 2019: Finance Committee will review the Library budget on January 17, not February 17 as previously stated.
