Town Government at Work for the Week of January 28, 2019

With Bedford’s Annual Town Meeting coming up on March 25, the Selectmen, the Finance Committee, and other boards are finalizing their budgets and preparing whatever articles they will submit for the warrant. Another busy week in Bedford!

The Selectmen’s meeting at Town Hall on Monday, January 28 will deal with several proposed articles for the Annual Town Meeting warrant. First, the annual hearing on the proposed salary by-law revisions, which sets salary ranges for non-union town employees in FY20. Three other articles under review are a Senior Tax Deferral, a means for Expedited Permitting, and the Establishment of a Commission on Disabilities. The Selectman will also review and vote on the FY20 Operating Budget recommendation for town departments.

On Wednesday, January 30 the Recreation Commission will meet in the Fitch Room in Town Center at 7 pm. On the agenda: fees for Summer Adventures and Kids’ Club programs. There will also be a review of the Recreation Department’s overhead costs.

On Thursday, January 31 at 7:15 the Finance Committee will review the Selectmen’s budget requests.

Two other meetings take place on Tuesday, January 29. The Land Acquisition Committee and the Historic District Commission will meet at 7:30 pm in Town Hall. No agendas were posted for either at press time.
