Town Government at Work for the Week of January 7, 2019

With the winter holidays behind us, the Town has returned to a normal board and committee meeting schedule, with the Town Caucus at 7 pm on Tuesday evening.

Monday, January 7, 2019, the Selectmen will meet in Executive Session to discuss pending litigation and land acquisition at 6:30 pm, prior to their regular meeting at 7:30 pm. The regular meeting agenda includes an Order of Taking on Middlesex Turnpike; a Conservation Restriction for Cheever’s Path; a contract from Facilities for an HVAC upgrade at the library; building plans for the Police Department; and a draft contract for refuse and recycling.

The Library Trustees will meet at 7 pm on Monday to approve a budget request for 2020, to review the charter and bylaws, and to plan for a meeting with the Finance Committee on January 17.

On Tuesday, January 8, the Town Caucus will be held at 7:00 pm in the Richard T. Reed Room (formerly the Multipurpose Room) at Town Hall, 10 Mudge Way.  All registered voters may attend and vote to place candidates in nomination for the Town Election in March.

On at 7 pm on Wednesday, January 9, the Conservation Commission will consider a beaver dam breaching at 16 Old Billerica Road; a Conservation Restriction for the Daughters of St. Paul – Sudbury Valley Trustees Clark & Little Meadow Management.

The Finance Committee meets at 7:15 on Thursday to consider the Planning Board FY2020 Budget request and the FY2020 Capital Budget. They will also update the 2020 budget model.

Also on Thursday, January 10, the Community Preservation Committee will consider requests for funds for the Affordable Housing Consultant and for the Bedford Housing Authority Life Management Program. There is also a request for $452,000 for a Town Museum. Other Capital Requests to the CPC for FY2020 are:

  • Lantern Lane Pedestrian Bridge ($165,280)
  • Fawn Lake Dredging ($1,800,000)
  • Page Baseball Field Rehabilitation ($138,364)
