Finance Committee Approves FY20 Selectmen and School Committee Budgets

An important step in preparing for Annual Town Meeting was accomplished on January 31 when Bedford’s Finance Committee heard FY20 budget proposals from Town Manager Sarah Stanton for the Selectmen, and Superintendent Jon Sills for the School Department.

Other boards and committees had already presented their budgets to FinCom, and several were approved in a single motion for a combined expenditure of $94,038,286.

The Selectmen’s budget was approved at $18,140,594, and the School Committee’s was voted at $41,844,365.

The other budget expenses approved in the January 31 vote included, in aphabetical order:

  • Board of Health: $312,539
  • Financial Committees: $1,007,037
  • Fixed Expenses: $31,333,230
  • Library: $1,298,121
  • Merit: $228,779
  • Planning Board: $223,621
  • Vocational Education: $550,000

Bedford’s Town Moderator will convene Annual Town Meeting on Monday, March 25 in the Bedford High School Auditorium.
