For the last two years, I have been involved in a wonderful service project sending care packages to Massachusetts state college students who were part of the foster care system and/or are experiencing homelessness. This project is important and meaningful because it helps 200 college students in need. Coordinated by Shirley Fan-Chan who is the contact person with the students, many local volunteers have been involved in this project.

I am a senior at Bedford High School who is soon heading to college. I feel so grateful to have the privileges I have and the support of my family. I want to do whatever I can to help these students who are working hard to succeed, despite the challenges they face economically and without families to help them.

We are still looking for some specific school supplies and food items to include in the care packages. Dr. Dianne Bridgeman and Dr. Kathleen McCafferty at Chestnut Dental in Bedford are generously donating toothbrushes, toothpaste, and dental floss. We plan to deliver the packages in the first week of March.

If you are able to make a donation to help this project, please see the SignUp for the types of items still needed: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0545a8a72ba0fe3-care

Donations can be sent to me or dropped off at Callahan’s Karate
