Sen. Mike Barrett has been promoted to a key position in the Massachusetts State Senate.  As part of a slate of assignments for the 2019-2020 session of the Legislature, Senate President Karen Spilka named Barrett Assistant Majority Leader of the Democrats in the chamber.

President Spilka also reappointed Barrett as Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Utilities and Energy, a position which plays a major role on issues related to climate change and the state’s energy future.  Barrett will continue to serve on the Senate Ways and Means Committee, the powerful body that produces the Senate’s version of the annual state budget.

“I’m grateful to join the new leadership team of our outstanding Senate President,” Barrett said in a statement.  “And I’m also pleased that my work on climate change, as persistent as it’s been at times, has been well-received by my colleagues.” Click this link to learn more.
