Compiled by The Bedford Citizen
For the first time in several years, there are contested races in Bedford’s Town Election.
Chris Gittins, Emily Mitchell, and Bill Moonan are running for two positions on the Selectmen. Gyasi Burks Abbott, Elizabeth Hacala, Abby Hafer, and Alma Hart are running for three Library Trustee positions.
Public Candidate Events
A pair of public events have been scheduled for residents to meet the candidates in Bedford’s March 9 Town Election:
Meet the Candidates for Selectman
Sponsored by the Bedford Family Connection in the Common Room at Heritage at Bedford, 100 Thompson Farm at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, February 26.
Free online registration is required.
Candidate Forum for All Candidates
Sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Bedford in the auditorium at the John Glenn Middle School at 2 pm on Sunday, March 3.
Candidates for Selectman and Library Trustee will speak and answer questions; candidates for non-contested offices will have an opportunity to make a short statement.
In order to appear in The Citizen, events must be open to the public and be held in handicap-accessible locations.
Election Coverage in The Citizen
The Citizen’s election coverage will begin tomorrow when we start posting Letters to the Editor on behalf of candidates. Our full coverage begins on Monday, February 25 with a new article every day until the election.
Absentee Ballots
Absentee ballots will be available at the Town Clerk’s office in Town Hall beginning on Tuesday, February 19.
Correction 02172019: The original posting showed an incorrect number of seats to be filled in the March 9 election: There are two, not one, Selectmen to be elected, and three, not two, Library Trustees
