Heavy winds arrived in Bedford on Monday morning, blowing the contents of Bedford’s open recycling bins hither and yon, and tipping trash bins into the road. Gusts up to 65 mph are expected.

The storm’s impact is widespread across Bedford, with evidence of twigs and crushed branches on almost every road, along with a tree that fell on a home in West Bedford, and at least two road closures.

In the early afternoon, Springs Road was closed at Hillside Avenue, further diverting traffic that had been detoured from Concord Road in Billerica to Springs Road to avoid another downed tree.
