OK, maybe the Pole Vaulters will wait a couple more weeks, but today was opening practice day for BHS Sports. I’ve been waiting for this season, since the end of last Spring Sports season . . . WHY?
There is an old surfer’s tale that every seventh wave is a great wave. Last spring, I got to watch a lot of 8th and 9th grade Bedford athletes. The wave started with the Class of 2020, and it will keep building for a couple of more years. Keep your eyes open for Frosh making an impact on Varsity sports.
GIRLS TENNIS
This is the largest squad of athletes I’ve ever seen tryout for BHS Girls Tennis. Even the coach is impressed.
BOYS TENNIS
A lot of depth on the boys’ team. The doubles matchup will be the big question for this year.
GIRLS LACROSSE
A lot of these girls were on the powerhouse Fall Girls Field Hockey team, so they know what it takes to win. This year’s team only lost a couple of starters from last year, so there is no shortage of experience
TRACK AND FIELD
The Winter Track and Field Team is getting a huge influx of returning athletes from BHS Wrestling team, and the Fiddler on the Roof cast. Wait, Jeff did you just say the musical???? You may not realize that there are a half dozen top DCL Spring Track and Field competitors who were also in Fiddler on the Roof. This year’s team is still young, but expect them to surprise larger DCL teams.
SOFTBALL
Lots of experience, and lots of depth on this year’s team. The big question will be which Frosh will rise up and surprise everyone on Opening Day.
