In solidarity with workers in several states, employees of Bedford’s Super Stop and Shop market went on strike at 1 pm on Thursday, April 11, when contract negotiations broke down.

At issue, according to workers on the Bedford picket line, are pensions, wages, and insurance coverage.

While the pharmacy and the bank remain open, disgruntled shoppers were turned away at the door; a telephone check with the store revealed that store managers await further instructions. Voicemail for the chain’s public information office was full.

Because this is a developing story, The Citizen will report further details as they become available.
