March was Meals on Wheels Month at Minuteman Senior Services (MSS), and several Community Champions helped with deliveries and assisted at the congregate meal site.

Bedford resident Vito LaMura serves as president of MSS. “I fell in love with their mission and the wonderful people who work there to provide so many services to the elderly and disabled, and their caregivers. I know there are many worthy causes, but MSS is a very special place.  I invite all of you to take our tag line seriously:  “Know us before you need us.”

Bedford’s Community Champions for 2019 included Selectman Mike Rosenberg, Police Chief Bob Bongiorno, State Representative Ken Gordon, Assistant Town Manager Michael Rosen,  Town Manager Sarah Stanton, Healthy Bedford Coordinator Carla Olson, and Bedford Youth and Family Services Director Sue Baldauf.

Minuteman Senior Services’ Meals on Wheels Program is a valuable community service that provides a safety check and friendly visit as well as a nutritious meal.  Community Champions nationwide are volunteering their time this month in an outreach effort designed to draw attention to senior hunger in our communities, to recruit volunteer drivers and to raise needed funds. Call toll-free 888-222-6171 for more information or to volunteer to be a Meals on Wheels Driver.
