Bedford Mothers Out Front
On behalf of Mothers Out Front, I would like to extend a sincere thank you to Town Manager, Sarah Stanton, and Facilities Director, Taissir Alani, for their commitment to reducing Bedford’s carbon footprint.
Ms. Stanton and Mr. Alani recently negotiated a three-year green contract with the Town’s power supplier, Constellation Energy. Effective July 1, the public schools and municipal buildings will be powered by 100% renewable energy such as solar, wind and thermal.
We truly appreciate their dedication to reducing Bedford’s carbon emissions. This renewable energy contract is a critical step towards achieving the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Report’s goal of limiting warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius by eliminating the use of fossil fuels by 2050. Such bold action is necessary to maintain a livable climate for the next generation.
We are fortunate to live in a community where our leaders understand the urgency of climate change and take it into account when making municipal decisions.
