Town Government at Work for the Week of May 6, 2019

Great Road reconstruction news plus agenda highlights at government meetings this week.

Great Road Reconstruction
The Great Road will be undergoing reconstruction beginning Sunday, May 5 and hopefully ending June 30. Most of the work will be done at night. It will involve the stretch of routes 4/225 beginning at the Lexington off-ramp and continue to Loomis Street. The work is under the supervision of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.

Selectmen’s Meeting, May 6, 7:00 pm
Among the Selectmen’s agenda items is an update on a plan to revise the Old Billerica Road and Route 62 intersection. They will also hear a final report from the Community Gardens  TaskForce.

The Planning Board will hold two public forums on a potential bylaw for Accessory Dwelling Units on May 13.  They will be from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm and a second event that same evening at 7:00 pm.  (A subcommittee will meet May 7 and May 9 at 3:00 pm to plan for the forums.)  

Restoration Advisory Board  (RAB) will meet May 8, 2019, 7 pm to 9 pm in the Flint Room at Town Center regarding superfund environmental cleanup at the former Navy Site on Hartwell Road. According to the notice “Representatives from the U.S. Navy, USEPA, and MassDEP will be available to answer questions at the meeting.”

Zoning Board of Appeals will meet at 7:00 pm to hear an appeal from the Village at Bedford Woods at Albion Road. They seek approval to build three additional buildings consisting of 26 townhouses.

Youth & Family Services will meet at 7:00 pm in the Mudge Room at Town Center. Town Manager Sarah Stanton will attend to discuss veteran’s concerns and transition planning
