The Bedford crew was delighted to discover that last year’s BHS production of SEUSSICAL served as the event picture for the evening’s ceremony outside the Berklee Performance Center

Congratulations to the cast and crew of JGMS’s production of GUYS AND DOLLS, JR., who took home two MET Musical Awards, for Best Choral Ensemble and Best Sound Design & Execution. The MET Musical Awards ceremony was held Monday, June 10, at the Berklee Performing Arts Center in Boston.

A group of nearly 30 students, teachers, and parents from Bedford traveled to the MET Awards, with bus transportation covered by a grant from Bedford Patrons of Music Students (POMS). The students enjoyed dinner together in the Berklee neighborhood before reconvening in the auditorium for the awards ceremony.

JGMS directors Amy Budka and Barbara Ferri flank recent BHS graduate Eran Zelixon, winner of the Massachusetts Jimmy Award.

Eran Zelixon, BHS ’19, was also honored during the ceremony as the Massachusetts male winner of the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, aka the Jimmy Awards, which are the high school equivalent of the Tony Awards. Eran performed a medley with other Jimmy finalists, including a solo excerpt of “If I Were a Rich Man,” from his performance as Tevye in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. Eran will compete against Jimmy winners from across the country for the national award on June 24 in New York City.
