This past Saturday we hosted the 15th Bedford PMC Kids Ride at JGMS.  The event was wonderful in many ways:  watching little ones navigate the obstacle course on “Wally’s Way” and seeing so many children (and adults!) head off through the balloon arch on scooters, tricycles, and bikes in support of such an important cause. It was especially meaningful to celebrate last year’s pedal partner, Stella Downey, who recently had her 1-year cancer free appointment. She and her twin brother Thomas spent hours on the obstacle course, much to the delight of their parents, family, and friends.

Many of us have been impacted by cancer — either directly, or in our circle of family and friends. On Saturday, we rode in memory of those we have lost, in honor of those still struggling and in celebration of those who have beat this disease.  It is my hope and expectation that we will continue to make strides in cancer research and treatment. On Saturday, we had over 150 riders and raised almost $25,000 in support of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.

This event could not have taken place without the support of the Bedford Police Department, Bedford DPW, Bedford Fire Department, countless volunteers, and our generous sponsors.

We would like to thank the following for their financial support: Bedford Rotary, Bedford Farms, Chestnut Dental, Goddard School, LEAP School, McDonalds Bedford, Salem Five Bank, Suzanne and Co. Keller Williams Realty, TD Bank (for being a sponsor and supporting the supply of Bedford Farms Ice Cream), and the Upper Cut Tree Service of Dracut.  The Cycle Loft in Burlington once again donated their time and a bike tech to tune up and repair bikes the morning of the ride.  Additionally, we had numerous donations of items for our raffle and silent auction from local businesses in Bedford and surrounding communities.

Last but not least- a huge thank you to Jeff Hoyland for taking amazing photos!  All the images in the gallery below are (c) Jeff JHO Hoyland, 2019 all rights reserved – Double click on each one to view larger image
