In one of the greatest basketball games ever played in Bedford Summer Basketball League (BSBL) history, the Moonshiners captured their 4th Championship title in 7 years with a 35-32 victory over the Reservoir Dogs.

The Moonshiners trailed for most of the game in an epic defensive struggle between the two top teams in the regular season. Nick Romanelli’s clutch 3 point shot with less than a minute left was the difference.

The Reservoir Dogs were led by Bedford High School (BHS) Hall of Famers Jerry Cohen and Vin McGrath with 11 and 7 points respectively. In addition, Josh Kaledarian’s rebounding and Antoine King’s all-around play were outstanding in a gritty performance.

The Moonshiners capped off an 11-1 season led by BHS Hall of Famer Kevin Cangiano’s 13 points and Mike Thorsen’s 11 points, shot from long range. Nick Mizzoni had a big free throw down the stretch and Mike Dirrane’s steal and defense at the end of the game allowed Nick Romanelli to calmly hit the winning basket in a thrilling come-from-behind victory.

Allistar Williams received the 2019 MVP award and Chris Wesinger the 2019 Player of the Year for his outstanding contributions to the league and the community.
