Compiled by The Bedford Citizen
Word went out today, August 6, that the committee which receives and evaluates the community’s input has named Jeff Hoyland Bedford’s 2019 Citizen of the Year.
Who is Jeff Hoyland?
If someone in your household plays on a sports team through the schools, with the Recreation Department, or on a travel team, you’re familiar with Jeff’s work.
If you have read online coverage of school ceremonies, concerts, or plays, you’ve seen Jeff’s work.
Add in Bedford Day, Town Meeting, summer concerts, winter walkabouts, school fundraisers, the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in Bedford, or Bedford’s participation in the annual Middlesex County 4H Fair, among others, and you have some idea of Jeff’s impact on the community.
Jeff is the ubiquitous and much-loved photographer who seems to be everywhere, and who may have already set Bedford’s record for demonstrating a positive outlook on life.
Editor’s Note: The Bedford Citizen is honored that Jeff wears our Press pass, and grateful that he generously shares his work with our readers.
Celebrating the 2019 Citizen of the Year
According to Town tradition, Jeff will ride in a convertible at the head of the Bedford Day parade on Saturday, September 21, and stand with the other dignitaries on the reviewing stand. He will be further honored at a reception hosted by the Town and the Bedford Minuteman Company on Friday, September 27. As Citizen of the Year, Jeff will participate in the annual Tree Lighting on Bedford Common in early December, and in April’s Pole Capping Day.
In addition to this announcement, The Bedford Citizen will post an in-depth interview with Jeff during the week of September 16, and Bedford Common, Bedford TV’s long-running monthly magazine, will feature Jeff in its September edition. There also will be coverage in all of Bedford’s other media outlets, including Twitter and Facebook.
