Max Hon-Anderson is the recipient of the Bedford Arts and Crafts Society’s art scholarship for 2019. Max’s work will be on display during the Bedford Arts and Craft Society’s Regional Art Show on Bedford Day.
The public is cordially invited to see Max’s work and to view the entries in the show on Friday, September 20, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and Saturday, September 21, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Town Center.
Max graduated this year from Bedford High School. BACS scholarship chair Maureen Reyling presented the award to Max at the Citizens Scholarship Foundation Awards Ceremony on May 29. He attends Champlain College in Vermont.
Max’s art interests are drawing and digital animation. He is almost entirely self-taught and favors drawing with graphite and colored pencils. Over the years he has done most of his drawing during his art classes, and his material choice reflects as much. Fantasy video games inspire his character sculptures and developed from his drawings using air-dry clay and gouache for color.
Digital art and animation are in his future; he says, “I got my start in digital art and expect to be doing a lot more of it.” Max hopes to work in game design and eventually to head his own studio. “Hopefully in my time studying game art and animation at Champlain, I’ll be able to build up a proper following and some connections to the games industry.”
