Michael G. Thompson, Ph.D., will Help to Launch Bedford’s 2019 Challenge Success Initiative

The Bedford High School Parents Association and the Middle School Parents Association cordially invite the community to attend a public program as the schools’ Challenge Success program begins its second year. The speaker will be Michael G. Thompson, Ph.D.; his talk will begin at 7 pm on Monday, October 7 in the Bedford High School Auditorium.

Challenge Success, a three-year initiative undertaken by the Bedford School Department, began in 2018 with a goal of fostering student success both in school and in life.

Michael G. Thompson, Ph.D., is a consultant, author, and psychologist specializing in children and families.  He is the supervising psychologist for the Belmont Hill School and has worked in more than seven hundred schools across the United States, as well as in international schools in Central America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Dr. Thompson will describe the psychological journey that children experience during their thirteen years in school.

He reminds adults that children are almost never judging themselves by grades; they are always monitoring their own development and constantly searching for three things: connection, recognition, and a sense of power.  He illustrates how children find those in many different arenas of school.

The Bedford High School Auditorium is located at 9 Mudge Way.
