Letter to the Editor: Thank You from the 35th Annual John Dodge Coat Drive

November 9, 2019

Submitted by the Dodge/Donovan Family

Thank you to Bedford for once again donating hundreds of coats for people in need of them.

Last Saturday was a lovely fall day and at the end of it, Nick Stavropoulos and Richard Hughes drove a van full of sixty construction bags of coats and warm clothing into downtown Boston keeping John Dodge’s annual coat collection alive for the 35th year.

A spokeswoman for St. Francis House – the largest day shelter for the homeless in New England – thanked Bedford’s contributors for another extraordinary collection.

“As you can imagine,” she wrote, “individuals experiencing homelessness don’t have the opportunity to store seasonal clothing so when the cold weather is here they need a coat and they need St. Francis House.”

And from John Dodge’s family,  “Particular thanks to Bedford Funeral Home for hosting the drive once more.”

Happy holiday season to all!
