Shawsheen Technical High School’s School Committee announced the search for a new Superintendent this week. The school currently operates with an Interim Superintendent-Director, Melanie L. Hagman, who was appointed in March 2019. She replaced Superintendent-Director Timothy Broadrick, who resigned to accept a position in New Hampshire.
The Shawsheen School Committee plans to appoint an advisory screening committee to assist with the search. The advisory committee will include faculty as well as community representatives from member towns. Member towns include Bedford, Billerica, Burlington, Tewksbury, and Wilmington. Community representatives, including parents, as well as local business and civic representatives, are encouraged to submit a letter of interest to the Shawsheen School Committee.
The advisory screening committee will review Superintendent-Director applications, interview semi-finalists, and recommend finalists to the Shawsheen School Committee.
Nancy Asbedian, the newest Bedford member of the Shawsheen School Committee, said, “The selection of a new Superintendent is an important process which requires the participation and support of interested community members,” adding that she hoped Bedford residents would step forward to be considered for the advisory screening committee.
Interested parties must commit to attending two meetings in December and participate in interviews in December. The first meeting is December 4. All meetings and interviews will take place during evening hours. A letter of interest is required to be considered for an appointment to the committee.
