Veterans Day in Bedford ~ November 11 ~ Patriotic Ceremony

A ceremony to honor Bedford’s Veterans will be held at Veterans Memorial Park, on The Great Road across from Bedford Shopping Center,  starting at noon on Monday, November 11.

Weather Note: In case of inclement weather, ceremonies will be moved to the Bedford High School Auditorium. Contact Joe Piantedosi 978-852-9300 (cell) or 781-275-6077 (H).

Bedford’s Public Safety Honor Guard will escort Patriotic Holiday Committee members and participating dignitaries along the walkway from the Bedford Patriot statue to the Monument. Fifes and drums, and the Bedford Minuteman Company will accompany the marchers.

Joe Piantedosi, Vice-Chair/Patriotic Holiday Committee, will offer opening remarks, and American Legion Chaplain John Cooper will offer an invocation. Bedford Boy Scouts will lead the Pledge of Allegiance, and the Bedford High School Marching Band will play the National Anthem.

Speakers will include:

  • Jon O’Connor, Commander, American Legion Post 221
  • Al Chisholm, Senior Vice Commander, VFW Post 1628
  • Mike Rosenberg, Chair, Bedford Selectmen
  • State Representative Ken Gordon, and
  • State Senator Mike Barrett

Participants are invited to remember special Veterans who have touched their lives by placing a flag on the Veterans Memorial Wreath of Honor and sharing the name and military service of the honored veterans.

The BHS Marching Band will lead a patriotic sing-along (God Bless America) followed by a volley fired by the JROTC students, and TAPS.

Chaplain Cooper will close the ceremony with a prayer.
