This impersonation is a form of flattery because surveys show local news sources are trusted. The trick is to create a website that looks like a local paper (“Your Town Gazette”), then seed the site with a few local events harvested from the web, and go on to produce “news” that serves a specific point of view. It may be totally false for it is not supported by reporting, editing, or a commitment to unbiased journalism.
Be assured The Bedford Citizen is real homegrown news. Our board, editors and most writers are Bedford residents. We sprang from a love of this community over seven years ago. Our focus remains Bedford, and the Town, in turn, gives us readers, volunteers, financial support, and collegial access to Bedford’s many groups and institutions.
We strive to encourage participation in town life by providing information about Bedford organizations, volunteer efforts, town government, and the myriad opportunities to grow the web of our community. Nothing fake here!
