On Growing Up, the Art Steering Committee’s current show at the Bedford Free Public Library was curated by Bedford photographer Astrid Reischwitz. The exhibit features photographs by a pair of accomplished artists. Suzanne Révy and Tira Khan each photographed her children – Révy’s sons and Khan’s daughters.
About the Artists
Révy began photographing her children, “as toddlers and continued into their teens, creating three visual diaries exploring the peril and poignance in the day-to-day lives of a small family with two growing boys.” Click this link to visit Révy’s website.
Khan took photographs as a way of studying her daughters in their natural habitat, as a journalist might. “Not wanting to bother them, ” she wrote, “I never asked them to stop what they were doing, and they didn’t seem to mind her snapping away. About the Art Steering Committee
The Bedford Free Public Library’s Art Steering Committee has brought art to the building’s gallery for many years with work ranging from sculpture, through botanical drawings, to watercolors by both professional and community artists.
Art in any medium is welcome. Applicants may apply for an individual or group show, or the Art Steering Committee may pair artists based on theme or medium. Shows run for two months, beginning mid-month in January, March, May, July, September, and November. They are usually scheduled twelve to eighteen months in advance.
