Seeking Community Input as Bedford Searches for a New Superintendent of Schools

The Bedford School Committee is seeking community input into the search for a new Superintendent of Schools. There are three ways members of the community are invited to participate:

Share your thoughts via an online survey
Volunteer to serve on a Search Committee
Participate in a focus group, where community members will discuss their priorities for the schools

Online Survey

The online survey can be accessed via this link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BEDFORD2020 through February 1. All members of the community, faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to respond to this survey.

Search Committee

The School Committee is seeking volunteers to participate on a Search Committee which will screen and interview candidates, provide the School Committee with a report on the process, and select the best-qualified candidates to be recommended as finalists to the School Committee. Most of this work will occur on evenings and weekends.

Volunteers may be parents, teachers, school administrators or interested community members. Each member of the Search Committee must commit to participating in all Search Committee meetings which include a brief interview on January 13, meetings on the evenings of January 27 and February 10, as well as interviews expected to take place from 6:30 pm to 9 pm most evenings the weeks of February 24 and March 2. Additional evening or Saturday meeting dates may be required. Volunteers must also commit to maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of candidates for the superintendent and the interview process.

Focus Groups

Focus groups for parents, guardians and the community will be held in Bedford and Boston. Additional focus groups will be held at the schools for faculty and staff of Bedford Public Schools. These focus groups will occur in late January and early February. Dates and locations will be shared in the coming weeks.
