An Invitation to Submit Letters to the Editor about Bedford’s 2020 Town Election

February 26, 2020

With a contested race for Selectman and other important races on the ballot for Bedford’s March 14 Town Election, we invite residents to share their thoughts and opinions through Letters to the Editor published in The Citizen and shared on social media.

Letters will begin to post on Tuesday, March 3, in the order of their receipt. Letters that arrive after 12 noon on Friday, March 13 will not be posted.

The letter writer or a candidate must take responsibility for each letter’s content and agree to be listed as the author in the letter’s byline.

Individual Letters to the Editor

While a typical word count for letters is 150-200 words, as an online news source The Citizen isn’t limited by ‘column inches’ as a print publication might be. A compelling letter of whatever length is welcome.

Letters Signed by Multiple Voters

Such letters are popular, and in print media are often thought of as political ads, offering information about a candidate along with a list of supportive voters. Each letter with multiple signers will be posted as an individual Letter to the Editor.

Publication Queue

Should multiple letters arrive on a particular date, they will be published as PDF links in a single document, clearly marked with the names of the candidates and writers.

Email your Letters to the Editor to [email protected], including a name and valid phone number should we need to reach you.
