The following Legal Notice describing planned aerial applications to control mosquito larvae appeared in the Boston Globe on Friday, February 14, 2020.
Publishing the legal notice and sending a copy to the appropriate Boards of Health are requirements of the notification criteria of Massachusetts Pesticide Board regulation 333 CMR: 13.04(7). The purpose of the regulation is to facilitate public notification prior to aerial applications of mosquito larvicides.
The February 14, 2020 notice will be the only legal notice published this year for aerial application notification purposes.
Press releases will be issued prior to any aerial larvicide applications over wetlands.
Legal Notice: Aerial Applications to Control Mosquito Larvae
During 2020, the East Middlesex and Suffolk County Mosquito Control Projects will be conducting helicopter applications to control mosquito larvae. Potential applications will be conducted at any time between April 1, 2020, and October 31, 2020, and will be over specific large wetlands in Bedford, Belmont, Boston, Burlington, Concord, Framingham, Lexington, Maynard, Medford, Melrose, Newton, North Reading, Reading, Sudbury, Wakefield, Waltham, Wayland, Wellesley, Weston and Winchester.
Trade names of the potential products utilized will be any of the following: VectoBac GR (EPA Reg. #73049-486); VectoBac G (EPA Reg. #73049-10); VectoBac GS (EPA Reg. #73049-10); VectoLex FG (EPA Reg. # 73049-20).
