Congratulations to a local resident recently honored at work:

Local resident Michael McAllister has been named as the new Director of Human Capital for Belmont Public Schools. He is currently serving as the principal of the Chenery Middle School in Belmont.  In an interview McAllister had with the Belmontonian he reflected on his 20 years in the Belmont schools as well as the opportunities to learn and grow in this new position.

McAllister grew up in Bedford and after graduating from Bedford High School in 1995, he attended Northeastern University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. In 2000 he earned a Master’s degree in Education from Harvard University.  That same year he joined the staff of the Winthrop L. Chenery Middle School in Belmont and taught social studies for several years, most recently serving as principal. Locally, he served on the Bedford School Committee for six years (2013-2019) and was Chair of the Committee from 2015 until 2018.  McAllister currently serves on The Bedford Citizen’s board of directors.
