Bedford School Department ~ Corona Virus/Covid19 Update ~ Tuesday, March 3, 2020

March 3, 2020

In a second message from Superintendent Jon Sills to the school community on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, he wrote:

“Thank you for your questions and comments following yesterday’s message. Here is some additional information that I hope will answer those questions:

1. If the district becomes aware of a student or faculty/staff member becoming infected by the virus, families and faculty and staff will be notified regarding the facts and the steps being taken, while protecting the identity of the infected individual.

2. All door handles and railings are being sprayed with disinfectant daily. Cafeteria tables will be wiped down with Comet solution between each lunch session, and with disinfectant after all lunches are finished. Desktops will be disinfected once per week. We are exploring ways to do that more frequently. We are also exploring how best to sanitize keyboards.

3. A task force involving our district crisis team, which includes police and fire, and which will add our town health department director, is being established.

4. Yes, we can use additional hand sanitizers (dispensers, wipes) as well as Clorox wipes. If you have them, please drop them off at your school’s main office.

5. The district leadership and principals have begun to make plans for some degree of remote schooling should a school be required to close. We are also awaiting more guidance from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education regarding this possibility.

Sincerely,

Jon Sills, Superintendent
