Covid-nineteen

Covid-nineteen has changed our ways,
Has emptied out our nights and days,
It’s closed the stores and stopped our fun
And has afflicted everyone.
The movies? Closed. Town Meeting? Later.
Restaurants? Not without a waiter.
Let’s wash our hands and cover sneezes
Until the dreaded crackdown eases,
Remember when this crisis ends
We can kiss and hug our friends.
We can meet and greet and travel
And on “nineteen” bang the gavel.
Yet while we all are eating and sleeping
Some crocuses are quietly peeping.
Green will return to trees and grass,
And pandemic’s end will come to pass.
