Thank-you to the Cordes family for publicly acknowledging what so many of us are feeling! The members of Mothers Out Front also thank our town’s leaders, including Sarah Stanton and all the other members of the Covid-19 Task Force. We appreciate the balanced concern these dedicated people are showing for the safety and health of residents and for the needs of the greater community. We also appreciate the great coverage that The Bedford Citizen is sharing with us.
Virtual contact with those who continue to depend on town services, new ways of delivering vital food supplies to those in need while also protecting the providers, and even small things like the recently published list of Bedford restaurants offering take-out meals—all of these things help build a community of mutual care and concern.
The Covid-19 pandemic is a real and immediate danger; it has the potential to be extremely serious. We are grateful for the way that all members of this community are coming together to address it. The only way to overcome this is to join together, each doing our part.
We have confidence that the mutual care and concern Bedford is showing now will not disappear along with the virus. This united front will give us the strength to tackle other problems we will face in the future, problems like extreme weather events and the climate crisis.
Working together, we will be able to respond thoughtfully and in solidarity with all these challenges. Our focus now is flattening the curve of Covid-19 cases; our focus for the future will include flattening the effects of climate change. Together we will be strong, we will be wise, and we will make a difference!
