Donations gathered by Shawsheen Valley Technical School

Shawsheen Valley Technical High School recently donated medical supplies and personal protective equipment to local medical facilities in support of the evolving COVID-19 pandemic.

While the school is currently closed, members of Shawsheen Tech worked to gather the much-needed supplies that the facility had on-hand.  The supplies were from a variety of technical areas, including the school’s Life Science programs and Automotive Collision Repair and Refinishing program.

The Shawsheen Tech community came together to donate 4 cases of disposable precaution gowns, 400-N95 respirator masks, 500 face masks, 2 cases of nitrile rubber gloves, 40 face shields, safety glasses, safety goggles, 6 gallons of Dial antiseptic soap and 10 canisters of germicidal disinfecting wipes.

Many students, parents, and staff were instrumental in making recommendations about the organizations to receive the equipment, including institutions that are partners with the district and participate in our cooperative education program.  The supplies were donated to the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, Sunny Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chelmsford, New England Pediatric Care in North Billerica, Winchester Hospital, and the Billerica Police Department.
