Tomorrow is SUPER TUESDAY ~ That Means it’s TIME TO VOTE!

Polls will open at 7 am on Tuesday, March 3, for the 2020 Massachusetts Presidential Primary. All four of Bedford’s precincts vote in the gymnasium at the John Glenn Middle School, 99 McMahon Road. Click this link for directions to the polls.

Voters who are blind or suffer from impaired vision may choose to vote independently using the AutoMARK Voter Assist Terminal – Click this link to learn more.

Of Bedford’s more than 10,000 voters, fewer than 10% voted in last week’s early voting, so there are a lot of people eligible to vote tomorrow.

Massachusetts is among the 14 states holding primaries on Tuesday, March 3. Fewer than 4% of the delegates needed to nominate a Democratic candidate in this summer’s convention have been decided, with 1,357 delegates at stake on Super Tuesday.

The Bedford Citizen will post updates throughout the day, as well as unofficial tallies when the polls close, and the final numbers when they are released by Interim Town Clerk Rosemary Harvell.

The Candidates

Voters in the Primary get to name their favorite candidate for President of the United States.

The candidates on the Republican ballot include William F. Weld, Joe Walsh, Donald J. Trump, Roque “Rocky” de la Fuente, and an option to vote ‘No Preference.’

The Democratic choices for President are wider, but many of the listed candidates have stepped down from the contest – Deval Patrick, Amy Klobuchar, Michael Bennett, Cory Booker, Julian Castro, Tom Styer, John K. Delaney, Andrew Yank, Pete Buttigieg, and Marianne Williamson.

Active candidates remaining on the Democratic ballot are (in ballot order) Elizabeth Warren, Michael Bloomberg, Tulsi Gabbard, Bernie Sanders, Joseph R. Biden.

A race with local interest is a contest between Bedford’s State Representative Ken Gordon and Todd G. Burger of Lexington who are vying for election to the Democratic State Committee. Ronald Cordes of Bedford has held the seat for multiple terms and is stepping aside this year.

Ballots for the Libertarian and the Green-Rainbow parties will also be available at the polls.

Green-Rainbow candidates for President are Dario Hunter, Sedinam Kinamo Christin Moyowasifza-Curry, Kent Mesplay, and Howard Hawkins.

Finally

No matter your candidate choice, get to the polls and VOTE because Democracy is NOT a SPECTATOR SPORT!
