The Getty Museum in California recently challenged its social media followers to re-create their favorite artwork with what they found laying around the house.
Click Van Gogh’s Iris below to learn more at the idea at the Getty Museum’s website:
LET’S TRY IT IN BEDFORD!!
Collaborate with your family, do it on your own, introduce the kids to a little art history, brush off the art history books from college, and GET CREATIVE!
Look up your favorite artwork. Please take a screenshot of it to send with your final re-creation. Here are just some of the possible resources:
- Museum of Fine Art Boston – www.mfa.org/collections
- Metropolitan Museum of Art New York – www.metmuseum.org/art/collection
- National Gallery of Art – www.nga.gov/collection.html
- Getty Museum – www.getty.edu/art/collection/

Gather your supplies. Look in your junk drawers, back of the cabinets, dress-up box, toy basket, toolbox, garage, closet….
Re-create the art! It can be as big or as small as you would like.
The only requirements: You need to be able to photograph your art, and it needs to be family-friendly – rated PG, please.
Email a picture of your art (and a screenshot of the original) to us at [email protected] by each Friday – April 10, 17, and 24. We will organize everyone’s work and post the images the following week.
Please email [email protected] to ask questions or to share your work
