St. Paul’s Weekday Nursery School Welcomes Pauline Leone as its New Director

Pauline Leone, the new director of St. Paul’s Weekday Nursery School

In anticipation of beginning its 61st school year serving the greater Bedford community, St. Paul’s Weekday Nursery School is pleased to welcome Pauline Leone to serve as the next Director of the school.  She succeeds current Director, Sharon Healey, who will step down at the end of this school year after four years of service.

Mrs. Leone’s energy and passion for young children and their education has been developed over a 20-year career as a teacher in early childhood education in eastern Massachusetts.  For the past four and a half years, she was Lead Teacher in the pre-school program at St. Mary’s School in Winchester, where she supervised a team of teachers in addition to being hands-on with her students in the classroom.  She has earned glowing recommendations from her program’s parents and co-workers.  Since her time at St. Mary’s, her classroom has been voted the #1 pre-school program both in Winchester and in the wider region by the local community.

In making their selection, the SPWNS Board was particularly impressed not just with the amount of experience Mrs. Leone brings in early childhood education, but also her genuine love of being with young children as they grow.  “It was clear from our first conversations with Pauline that her philosophy of attending to the whole child’s development: educational, social, and emotional, was a perfect fit for St. Paul’s,”, said school parent and Board chair Tyne Jeffrey.  “As we got to know her more during the process, the enthusiasm and joy that she brings to her vocation as an educator was just so genuine.  We’re excited to welcome her to our community and for our school to enjoy the many gifts she brings!” added Jeffrey.  Finalists were interviewed by a team that included teachers at the school, current and former school parents, and other members of the board.

For her part, Mrs. Leone says she is looking forward to beginning the transition into the Director role in the coming weeks.  “I feel fortunate to be joining this supportive and caring school as the Director.  During my visit to St. Paul’s I instantly felt its warmth with its bright windows and organized spaces for children to explore, discover, and create.” said Leone.   “Although the children were not there, it was easy to see why families would choose St. Paul’s for their child to play and to learn at, as it is a positive Preschool environment.”

St. Paul’s Weekday Nursery School is a welcoming school for all children, offering a secular, learn-through-play curriculum to prepare children from aged 2.9 years old for Kindergarten.  St. Paul’s offers 3-day, 4-day, and 5-day options, including optional lunch and extended day.  Art, music, and outdoor time are key components of the program.

Enrollment is now open for September For more information please email us at [email protected] for an invitation to attend the next Zoom Open House on Wednesday, June 10 at 1 pm or call 781-275-1383 and visit www.stpaulsweekdayns.org.
