George L. Hand passed away on July 6, 2020. Mr. Hand came to Bedford courtesy of the US Air Force when he was assigned to the Cambridge Research Lab in the 1960s; he retired with the rank of Captain and remained in Bedford to raise his family. After leaving the Air Force, Mr. Hand specialized in missile design at MIT’s Lincoln Lab and later the Charles Stark Draper Lab until his retirement in 1988. Even before retirement, he was a lifelong Bedford volunteer for Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts, First Church of Christ Congregational, Patrons of Music Students, the Friends of the Council on Aging (where he served as President), and as a ‘Reading Friend’ for first-graders at Davis School.
Mindful of circumstances, his funeral will be private with family only.
