“Not The Rummage Sale” will be open through the end of August in Fellowship Hall at First Church of Christ Congregational on The Great Road

The  First Church of Christ “Sumer Thrift Shopping Event” has transformed Upper Fellowship Hall into a safe and fun “Thrift Shop” open to the public on  Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays in August, from 10 am to 2  pm. The first shopping time slot each day (10 to 10:30 am) reserved for seniors over the age of 60.

Unlike the annual Rummage Sale that usually takes place in May, the Thrift Event is smaller in scale, with better items available.  “Church members and friends have been bringing in beautiful things, from entire ‘Christmas Villages’ to crystal, cut glass dishes, and fancy teacups” said Becky Mantz, chair of the event.  “There are also plenty of games and toys for kids, DVDs and books, sports equipment, and a whole lot more!”

To comply with social distancing mandates, the event highly encourages shoppers to sign up for a time slot (or several!)  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/904044aa4a922a5f94-summer.  Since capacity is limited; organizers appreciate everyone’s cooperation in following safety guidelines.

“We really want this to be a fun event, but also a safe event,” said Pastor John Castricum.  “We worked with the Board of Health to make sure we were doing as much as we could to keep people protected from the COVID virus.”   Among many precautions, the event is limiting the number of people at any time in the Hall, requiring facemasks, offering hand sanitizer at the start, and making sure people follow the approved traffic pattern marked with floor arrows.

“All-in-all, we hope this event will be a great way for the community to get out and enjoy some great bargains, during these difficult times” added Pastor John.
