Letter to the Editor: Thank You, Bedford School Committee, for Chasing Perfection

August 7, 2020

Submitted by Cristina Egerman

I want to thank the members of our school committee in regard to the current decisions they are faced with. This is an extremely difficult task and one that would have great consequences on all of our students, families, teachers, staff, and administration.

Thank you for acknowledging and providing families multiple options to meet their needs. Thank you for having vision, expectations, and not settling for a good enough approach by accepting the state’s LMS option. Thank you for listening to the parents’ and teachers’ concerns for a remote option that is taught by the wonderful and talented teachers within our own schools.

Thank you for advocating for our students, families, teachers, support staff, and administration during these unprecedented times and not dismissing our concerns. In the words of Vince Lombardi, “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence.” Thank you for chasing perfection and not settling for good enough.

Lastly, I would like to thank all the parents who spoke up for what they believed in. It is extremely necessary for all to be heard during these times. I would also like to thank all those that made it a priority to attend in silence and listen to the concerns of their neighbors.
